Detroit, MI, October 6, 2025 – Redefining the future of e-mobility with breakthrough material innovations that deliver faster charging, enhanced safety, and greater sustainability, Envalior is showcasing next-generation solutions, from high-voltage connectors and lightweight battery housings to thermal runaway prevention, at The Battery Show North America | Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, Booth #408, October 7–9, 2025, in Detroit, MI.
As the electric vehicle (EV) industry accelerates toward 800V and higher charging systems to improve charging times, new challenges emerge for insulation plastics. Envalior is meeting those challenges head-on with the debut of Pocan® BFN4232ZHR S1, a next-generation PBT grade designed to deliver unmatched performance and safety in high-voltage connectors.
Pocan® BFN4232ZHR S1: Setting the new standard for HV connectors
This hydrolysis-stabilized, flame-retardant PBT grade helps prevent silver migration and electrical stress, two major causes of breakdowns and arcing in high-voltage environments. Key advantages include:
- Outstanding electrical reliability: CTI value of 600 in all key colors, including black and orange
- Long-term durability: Retains 75%+ of properties after 1,000 hours in 85°C/85% RH conditions
- Enhanced safety: UL 94 V-0 at just 0.75 mm thickness, halogen- and PFAS-free
- Cleaner processing: No outgassing of self-igniting volatiles, even under high molding temperatures
Lightweight battery housings built for the future
Envalior will also showcase the first fully functional high-voltage battery enclosure made entirely of engineered plastics, developed from Durethan® B24CMH2.0 + 45% LGF (PA6) and Tepex® dynalite 102-RGUD600 thermoplastic composite sheet technology. This innovation achieves lower weight, cost, and carbon footprint compared to traditional metal housings while meeting strength and safety demands.
Preventing thermal runaway with Stanyl® SN-PURE
Lithium-ion batteries remain the power source of choice for EVs, but their electrolytes are highly flammable. Envalior addresses this with Stanyl® SN-PURE, a succinonitrile electrolyte additive that forms a thin protective layer on cobalt- and NMC-based cathodes. Benefits include:
- Improved thermal stability and cathode protection
- Reduced harmful gas generation and heat from side reactions
- Significantly lower risk of thermal runaway in Li-ion, sodium-ion, and solid-state batteries
