EcoPaXX combines excellent thermal and mechanical properties with low moisture uptake and high chemical resistance. This makes it especially suitable for automotive applications that require good mechanial performance after conditioning, water/glycol ageing and road salt exposure. Additionally, EcoPaXX has excellent surface aesthetics, which is ideal for decorative components that require thermal and mechanical stability, such as engine covers.

"EcoPaXX® is our bio-based, high-performance polyamide (PA410) that offers outstanding performance across the board, while being made mainly from tropical castor beans which don’t compete with the food chain."

"EcoPaXX® belongs to the family of long-chain polyamides, which offer exceptional performance in the most demanding of environments. That includes excellent chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, combined with a very high melting point (highest of all bio-plastics) and high crystallization rate (typical for engineering plastics like PA66 and PA46)."

"EcoPaXX® has the lowest carbon footprint amongst common polyamides. This is because the amount of carbon dioxide emitted during the production of EcoPaXX® is offset by the amount absorbed in plant growth, and in particular by the riccinus communis – the tropical castor bean plant that makes up some 70% of EcoPaXX®. Externally certified lifecycle analysis (LCA) data is available upon request."

A natural performer

EcoPaXX is Envalior’s most established biobased engineering plastic. It combines Envalior’s propriety C4 technology with the power of nature’s C10 building block derived from castor plants, which do not compete with the food chain. The combination of the short C4 block and the long C10 block gives EcoPaXX high mechanical properties of typical short chain polyamides, but combines these with lower moisture update and higher chemical resistance more typical of long chain polyamides. EcoPaXX can easily be processed in PA66 tools while resulting in better surface quality. This makes it an ideal candidate for when performance, aesthetics and sustainability come together.
