Envalior at K-2022

Envalior will showcase some of its latest material innovations at K-2022, the world’s premier fair for the plastics and rubber industry, in Düsseldorf, Germany, between 19 and 26 October 2022.

K-2022: Together towards stronger, safer, reliable and more sustainable solutions

We are changing the world for the better by reducing our environmental impact, enabling sustainable solutions, advocating for positive change. Over the past decades, consumption and production of materials has created a series of interconnected environmental challenges. These include climate change, the accumulation of plastic waste and natural resource depletion.

At Envalior we enable our customers to leap ahead with sustainable innovation, addressed through a broad portfolio of leading products in essential applications in new mobility, connectivity, medical, mechatronics, sustainability and digitization.

Find out more by visiting us in Hall 6, booth B11!

Latest sustainable innovation highlights

100% bio-based Stanyl® with halved carbon footprint and same high performance to empower customer sustainability

New suppliers entering the EV market are producing charging plugs using lower quality materials to drive costs down, which puts other manufacturers under pressure to improve cost efficiency. Yet, low quality materials fail to deliver the aesthetic value that OEMs expect today. They are also unsuitable for producing new fast-charging plugs, which process higher voltage rates and require high-strength materials designed to ensure final parts are safe to handle under any conditions.

Partnering with Samsung Electronics to develop first smartphone made with recycled ocean-bound fishing nets

Working with Samsung Electronics, Envalior tailored Akulon® RePurposed to meet the specific high-performance requirements of the new Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Tab S8 series. As such, the material is incorporated into key components including the Galaxy S22 series’ key bracket and inner cover of the S Pen, as well as Tab S8 series’ inner support bracket. Thanks to its unique properties, Akulon® RePurposed offers an excellent balance and leading mechanical performance, and has already been applied to various industries, such as automotive, consumer goods, and electronic devices.

Increasing the efficiency and life-time of fuel cell systems

Fuel cell systems need to use materials that are pure. If not, ion leaching and hydrolytic and heat aging can occur. These two failure modes and the risks and consequences can hurt your brand image. Impure materials increase the risk of ion leaching, and higher water absorbing materials show more ion leaching, which you do not want. Also, impure materials increase the risk of hydrolytic and heat ageing— PA9T and PA66 are not good performers.

Optimizing thermal management systems for EVs with advanced materials

In EVs, thermal management systems (TMS) are critical to keeping battery packs within the optimal temperature range to improve engine efficiency and service lifetimes as the EV operates. Additionally, TMS continue running when the EV is being charged to prevent battery pack thermal runaway – which is especially critical for fast EV charging. This requires manufacturers to ensure the thermoplastic components in TMS are tested to withstand more than 10,000 hours of exposure to coolant chemicals.

Latest medical innovation highlights

Design breathable & high-protection medical gowns

Healthcare workers fighting pandemics depend on reliable personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect their health while being comfortable to wear. This requires breathable materials that prevent wearers from being exposed to infectious fluids. Common material solutions fail to balance comfort and protection needs. Microporous films contain microscopic pores making gowns breathable, but are vulnerable to tearing or strikethrough in critical zones – increasing wearers’ risk of exposure. Polyolefin-based gowns provide an effective barrier, but no way for body heat and perspiration to escape.

Delivering medical devices trusted by patients and healthcare professionals

High demand for medical devices and drug delivery equipment is creating opportunities for manufacturers that support this market. Yet approximately 30-40% of equipment recalls can be traced back to improper material selection. Protecting your reputation requires working with a material partner prepared to help you accurately assess how final parts perform in clinical settings and overcome supply chain issues. We at Envalior offer a proven material solutions portfolio created to help you develop a broad range of best-in-class medical devices.
