PlasticsFinder.com Toolbox now includes a spider diagram for metal to plastic replacement, plus more helpful tools

Requirements for structural applications usually differ for each case, which is why Envalior created a Materials Selector—to provide you with guidance in choosing the correct material solution for the application you are working on. The Materials Selector tool allows you to highlight what requirements are most important for the specific application.

You are able to visualize the performance of the chosen grades in a spider diagram, enabling you to identify which material will perform the best. All you need to do is hoover your mouse over one of your selected grades, and the specific grade in the diagram will be highlighted.

More tools available

The Gears Selection tool lets you input torque, gear pitch diameter, number of teeth, gear width and root stress. Additional information can be included about the expected failure modes, such as tooth root breakage or tooth wear. When utilizing this additional information, the tool will recommended a material.

Another helpful tool is the Melt Residence Time Calculation, which gives an indication of melt residence time, based on material grade, melt volume, shot weight and cycle time, all with respect to the given temperature ranges as stated in the grade’s injection molding recommendations. Calculations for both gears and melt residence time can be exported to a PDF document.
