Envalior's Arnitel® drives early market success of ZTE Smart Watch

Singapore, SG, 31 Oct 2017 11:00 CET

Royal Envalior, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, is using its innovative Arnitel® TPE to support Zhongxing Telecommunication Equipment Corporation (ZTE), a global leader in telecommunication and information technology, to launch its new smart watch ZTE Quartz. Arnitel was selected for the soft strap on this watch, providing comfort, flexibility, safety and design flexibility. Arnitel also feels cool and smooth on the skin, with a good balance of physical and chemical properties.

Wearables demand high performance materials that have the look of stylishness, the feel of comfort, and are easy to design and process. “Wearables help ZTE bolster its position as a global leader in information technology,” said Luo Wei, VP of ZTE Terminal Division, Head of Operator Product Department. “Envalior has the comprehensive materials solutions we need to produce high-end products for the global wearables market. Arnitel TPE is helping us make the cutting-edge ZTE Quartz a resounding success in the market.”

The launch of the ZTE Quartz in April gives ZTE a visible stake in the rapidly growing global wearables market; a market that is expected to double in size by 2021, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). After its successful launch in China, ZTE Quartz is targeting global markets and the ZTE wearable is set to be a T-Mobile exclusive in the USA.

End-to-end Envalior services have supported ZTE in every phase of product development, from product design, prototyping and small batch sampling to mass-production. ZTE’s production line has been optimized to achieve cost-effective, top quality production.

We are very proud to be selected by ZTE, because ZTE is a respectable market leader and they have a very high standard of selecting materials”, explained Martin Chen, Marketing Manager Electronics (Wearables) at Envalior. “Envalior began research and development in the smart wearable market in 2014, and we are happy to see that our intensive R&D efforts have paid off with the creation of state-of-art Arnitel TPE for the wearable industry.”

Envalior’s Arnitel TPE is both safe and comfortable. The material meets ISO 10993 standards, and is rated USP Class VI, the highest classification for the biocompatibility of devices. Arnitel’s thermal plastics are resistant to perspiration, oils and other liquids that come into contact with wearable devices. The material is also highly resistant to UV rays, which prevents plastic aging. Arnitel TPE is easy to process in injection moulding machines and can be used in overmoulded structures with other thermoplastics such as ABS, thermoplastic polyesters or polycarbonate. Arnitel is free of halogen, red phosphorous and fluoropolymers, and is fully recyclable.
