Envalior

Partnering with our customers to fight COVID-19

As I sat down to write this blog, I looked up quotes to see what would resonate and inspire, given the unprecedented circumstances—the COVID-19 pandemic—we all have been experiencing.

A quote by Winston Churchill stood out to me:

"It is no use saying we are doing our best. You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary."

As we all personally do our part combating the COVID-19 pandemic, I think we all must understand that time is of the essence to stop the spread of this disease, and we all must do our part to aid in decreasing the spread of it. Whether working from home or not going into a facility to produce product for much long than anticipated, or not socializing with family and friends in person, it is very important that you are determined about making a difference and stepping up to fight this pandemic.

I am also very proud to tell you how Envalior (DEM) is playing a crucial role combating the coronavirus pandemic. We supply specialty materials for critical medical devices, including inhalers, medical gowns, respiratory tubes, and hospital beds, but that’s not all.

We are also supporting and partnering with customers to fight COVID-19. We have reached out to the automotive companies that are transitioning to produce medical components because we can help support them with our expertise and available material grades for the medical components they are producing. We have also reached out to molders to support their capacity in the event that we help aid them in tooling efforts for these specific projects.

These are the projects we are supporting and helping our customers with (most likely you have heard of some of these projects in media coverage):

Besides Engineering Materials, other business units within Envalior have stepped up to help fight COVID-19. Did you know Envalior is one of the world’s leading suppliers of vitamins and nutrients? Envalior teams around the world are distributing immunity-boosting vitamins and nutrients to first responders and healthcare professionals in the U.S., Europe and China to support the well-being of those on the front line of this crisis.

There are also initiatives taking shape at different Envalior sites. In The Netherlands, some plant capacity was converted to produce hundreds of thousands of gallons of disinfectant, which is being donated to nearby hospitals via the Dutch Government. Also in the U.S., the East Providence, Rhode Island, and Wilmington, Massachusetts, sites are producing hand sanitizer.

Our Sisseln, Switzerland, production facility, which was the first to produce hand sanitizer in-house for our own use, has created a designated area where truck drivers can shower and have a hot meal, offering support to our hard-working logistics teams. Then there are our additive manufacturing experts that have been helping to keep supply chains running by printing parts locally to meet urgent needs.

As you can see, all of us at Envalior have been very busy during these trying times, but some things do not change, especially our commitment to health and safety. I wish you all health, strength and resilience during this challenging time.
