We recently sat down with Dr. Sainath Vaidya, Research & Technology Manager and Global Technical Product Manager for Arnite®, to learn more about his role at Envalior.
In October 2014, I started working for Envalior (DEM) as a Technical Product Manager for India, and prior to that I worked as a scientist in the Materials Science Center, located in Geleen, the Netherlands.
Now I develop and manage the Research & Technology (R&T) function in DEM India to contribute towards business growth and act as a technical bridge between marketing and sales, manufacturing and supply chain functions. I translate product line strategies to the R&T team by acting as the linchpin to DEM Global R&T, DEM India and the Performance Materials Cluster. I combine my role with additional responsibilities of Global Technical Product Manager (GTPM) for the Arnite product line. This is where I ensure the implementation of global processes for project execution as well as product line maintenance.
I have a Ph.D. in polymers from Eindhoven University; a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Delft University of Technology; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in Polymers from the University of Pune.
Every day I have an opportunity to work in a fantastic and caring work culture where safety is of prime importance. Plus, the collaborative cross functional teams are always ready to go that extra mile!
We have a broad materials portfolio in which we cater to a broad range of applications, ranging from automotive to electronics and electrical. This also means that every day I get a diverse range of queries to address. These daily new challenges and managing stakeholder coordination to ensure a successful execution of these projects keeps my motivation high each and every day.
My first personal experience with such a caring culture at Envalior was in 2014. I was working in Geleen and wanted to return to my home in India. I received immense support from management to have this transition. Apart from this, the support I receive from cross functional collaboration teams is always memorable.
After receiving my bachelor’s degree, I started working as project assistant at the National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, India. The research environment in the lab, a fascinating combination of structure-property-application correlations studied, had inspired me to have a career in the materials science industry, particularly in research.
