The application of short glass fiber reinforced plastics (SFRP) in automotive applications is promoted if engineers have available simulation tools for the accurate prediction of fatigue lifetime. During this Talk, a framework will be presented that combines experimental and numerical methods to develop such engineering tools. Key features of the framework are explained, and the consistency and accuracy that can be achieved are demonstrated. The framework is validated on a representative demonstration part that was injection molded and tested in fatigue loading.
